Renoir’s gloriously joyful painting Dance at the Moulin de la Galette depicts multiple couples dancing but are they completely modern or going back to their past?

The Moulin de la Galette was an outdoor dance hall near to the Lapin Agile in Montmartre, Paris although there are no nimble rabbits here, per se.

The centre piece isn’t actually a tree as in this song, but it’s baubles are very Christmassy and they’re the colour of the berries that make happy couples linger in the first verse.
